For the Mastropietro family, of Wilmington, Mass., FOOD equals LOVE and they love each other a lot. They cook five-course feasts of pasta, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and creamy desserts. Now, they are facing catastrophic health problems.
Head of the family, Jimbo, has already had an unsuccessful gastric bypass and wife Agnes has her surgery scheduled. Both of them are looking forward to walking their daughter Michelle down the aisle later this year, but they are ashamed that they may not fit. Jillian hits the family like a tornado and, shocked by the family’s eating habits, puts them through a grueling first workout. What she didn’t expect to find is a much deeper problem when she discovers that the family weight gain began after the loss of their newborn son, Jimmy, more than 20 years ago. This tragic event has been an emotional roadblock for them and has fragmented the family in more ways than they realize. As she gets to know the family, she finds out that Jimbo has never spoken about the loss of his son since it happened. She has a lot of work to do.
Six Weeks Later:
Michelle looked confident and stunning as she walked down the aisle to marry Jordan. Jimbo dropped 48 pounds, lost 10 inches from his waist and his blood pressure is now under control. Agnes lost 34 pounds and her cholesterol levels are now normal. Michael lost 25 pounds and looks hot! Michelle and Jordan went off on an all-expense paid Caribbean honeymoon to celebrate the perfect beginning for the rest of their lives!

Life with the Mastropietros
The Mastropietros were lovely and warm and kind. I had my own bedroom, shared a bathroom — but it was fine. They were just a really warm, kind, generous family. And I wish American could see more than 42 minutes of them because there is just so much going on — and because they are so wonderful and so loveable.
What You Didn't See

Predictions for the Future
I think now that the lines of communication are open — and they’re confronting fears and out of their comfort zones — that the sky’s the limit for the Mastropietros!
