Phthalates Free Fragrance
Finding chemically safe fragrance is tricky. The mere word “fragrance” in the ingredients list inherently implies that the product contains chemicals — at the very least, it contains phthalates. Phthalates are hormone-mimicking chemicals that interfere with normal hormone production. Studies have linked them to genital changes in baby boys, reduced sperm counts in men, and early puberty in girls. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found phthalates in the urine of nearly everyone tested. Sounds kind of scary if you ask me.
Many perfumes claim to be “green” or “eco-friendly,” but they are most often referring to the packaging, a recycling program, or some other green initiative — not the product's ingredients. They usually aren’t chemically safe or phthalate-free. Look for organic perfumes with 100% natural ingredients which are mainly made from organic botanical oils.
