Get and Stay Motivated

What's your motivation, baby? If you're struggling through your workouts and calorie counting has got you down, try to stay focused on your primary motivators. What's pushing you to lose weight? Is it the thought of slipping on that party dress this holiday season? Do you want to pass the stress test next time you see your doctor? Here's what one of my teammates recently said to another teammate about her motivation during this long journey:

When it comes to working out, my motivation is the fact that I enjoy working out. I just love how great I feel afterward! I also don't sweat it when I miss a day or two — both metaphorically and literally :) . I know I'll be back at it the next day because I will miss it and start to feel sluggish. When it comes to my diet, it's thinking about my health and watching family members suffer from weight-related illnesses that motivates me. I've been at this for a long time so I know that I won't always be perfect but I also know that my occasional "slips" will not derail me. Patience is a virtue, and it's paying off for me. I'm on an extremely slow decline, but it's an overall decline with some plateaus and an occasional one-pound gain that always comes back off the next week. –Dawn, a.k.a. FTFE
