How to Pack a Healthier Lunch for Kids

I'm not going to sugar coat anything about this topic. Most of the foods sold in school cafeterias are loaded with preservatives, chemicals, hormones, high-fructose corn syrup, and even more crap. Why? For several reasons, but mostly it comes down to just dollars and cents. Those frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets are much cheaper for the cash-strapped schools to buy than fresh produce and veggies. And, the money they make from those vending machines of junk foods and sodas or contracts with food supply companies often helps supplement their tight budgets too. Since you can't accompany your kids to school every day to hand select what they eat, send them with a healthy, pre-packed lunch, instead of cash for the cafeteria. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
